Introduction
The Kuil Sri Maha Periyapalayathu Nagammal Temple is located at the Sime Darby Palm Oil Estate Farm along the Ijok-Kuala Selangor road. As we arrived, we noticed that the temple works was going on as part of the preparation for the temple's annual 29th temple festival (Thiruvizha).
(Lord Hanuman)
We were welcomed by the committee members as they were in the midst of the renovation works. Upon our introduction, we were briefed on the temple history which is said to be more than 100 years old based on the numbers of priests from 3 generation that were performing the poojas in the temple since 1910s.
The presiding deity of this temple is Lord Periyapalayathu Nagammal and she resides behind a very big tree. It was said that when the image (idol) was installed , there was a small tree in front of her and as time passed by, the size of the tree grew and changed the original structure of Lord Periyapalayathu Amman as it is today, there were 3 images (idols) that were more than 100 years old which we believe has its own story to tell. (no photos was available as photo taking was prohibited in the main moolastanam).
(Lord Sangguli Karupar)
Lord Hanuman
Lord Hanuman was installed back in 2013, there were 2 images that came to the temple at same time but from different places. The smaller image (idol) was originated from a temple in Kapar and the bigger image (idol) was originated from a home temple at Bandar Utama, Damansara. Due to a relocation order, the original owner had to distribute many of the images (idols) and decided to pass the Hanuman Idol to the current temple, and it was said that the temple committee members will honor the owner by inviting him and conduct a special pooja on a yearly basis.
Miracles
For the past 1 year, we were understood that there will be one particular monkey that always visits and resides on Lord Hanuman's image (idol). The monkey welcomes and accepts offering by devotees and this will make many to feel as if Lord Hanuman is here to bless the devotees.
